Lucent
The Modern Chandelier
Chandeliers have traditionally been very ornate and full of hanging crystals. Although beautiful, at times they can seem too over the top and expensive. Most chandeliers might not fit into most homes' décor styles nowadays.

With Lucent I wanted to create an affordable chandelier that kept the classic draping component while keeping it fresh with a subtle pop of color that would fit into most people's homes.

To begin I did market research to understand what the market looks like, what's working, and what isn't.

Mood Board
I wanted to create a light that would utilize the transparency of porcelain. Whether it was in small elements or completely made from ceramic. Throughout the sketching process, the forms stayed simple.

In the end, I went with a 2-tier chandelier made from stained pinched porcelain so that the light shines through the thinnest parts with subtle color to match most homes.
In order to recreate the texture of pinched clay I warped the surface of each tile and linked them together in order to create a chain.
